ColiMinder Lorenz at Vienna’s Donaukanal
Sine end of July 2025, ColiMinder Lorenz has the task to monitor microbial water quality at the Donaukanal (Danube Canal) in Vienna. Located at the so-called Badeschiff (bathing ship), it is deployed in the frame of an Interreg EU project named UrbanBlueHealth.
In collaboration with Medizinische Universität Wien / Interuniversitäres Kooperationszentrum (ICC) Wasser & Gesundheit), ColiMinder is used to collect high-frequency and near real-time measurement data to be added to and matched with existing data of e.coli levels and their dynamics. This will provide insights into the applicability of the methods used in the project for water hygiene assessment.
Also, ColiMinder Lorenz promised to have a close look onto e.coli levels during the upcoming Schwimmparade (swimming parade), hosted on August 30th 2025 by the Schwimmverein Donaukanal.
